After Labor Day the huge crowds disperse, but life's still a beach at Jones Beach, Robert Moses, and Sunken Meadow state parks. Parking costs $6, but it's free Monday-Friday. No Lifeguards on duty until Memorial Day Weekend (May 23, 2009). The boardwalks at all three parks remain open through the winter.
